Happy Gotcha Day Buddy!!!!

Nine years ago today my first mom in Noo Jersee putted me in a PTU and drove me to Fillydelfia. Then she said goodbye and put my PTU in a car wif another bean who drove and drove and then putted me into a diffrunt car wif another bean!

This went on allllll day long. Drive drive drive move the PTU to another car drive drive drive move the PTU to another car drive drive drive. In some of the cars there was a woofie with me, but he was ok. All the peoples were furry nise - they said they was taking us to our furever homes. I din't unnerstand this, becos I thot I was alreddy in my furever home wif my boy Brandon who resskewed me wen I was a little kitten and got losted from my momcat.

It was dark when I got putted into a van wif a nise lady named Debra, she sed she knew my new mom bean and was going to take me to her. We drove even more but then Debra stopped and got me a hamburger! Well not the hole thing, but she gave me some and it was furry good.

Soon, a little white car drove up. A lady got out and got in the van wif us. She took me out of the PTU and gave me a hug. Then she said let's go home, Buddy. So we got in her car and drove drove drove some more.

I stayed in one little bafroom by myself for a while. Mom would come in to talk to me, give me some foods or treats, but I just growled and hissed at her for a long time. See, I was furry confused and upset becos I was missing my Brandon boy. But mom kept talking nice to me and Finny would play paws unner the door wif me. Then one day, I got to come out and explore my new house.

Hi y'all, I'm Callie. Well, my real name is Calla Lily cos my beans like flowers so I have a flower name but they call me Callie.

I came to live here at Happy Fields last summer after Magic (Moji) went to Rainbow Bridge. The beans miss her very much. They tell me she was really fun and I would have liked to have a sister to play with.

Inside this fence there are HORSES! They are HUGE HUGE animals and they run around a lot. I would like to play with them, but they don't like me.

That's my friend Sammy!!! Isn't he cute?

Sammy came to our house with his mom bean and we played and played and played in my very own special playground! We din't make a movie of that, but here's a movie of me playing there the first day the beans maked it biggerer for me.

Daisy who Came Before

We only haf a few pikchers of Daisy, my little sisfur who had FIP and went to the Bridge in Feb., 2002. She wood be 11 yeers old now. Mom still thinks of her lots and tells us storees abowt her.

Daisy was a furry sweet little girlycat who loved to play wif milk-jug rings and her mousie that skweeked like a reel mousie. Mom dopted her at a Petsmart when they had a dop-a-thon wif kitties from a shelter.

It only took me and Daisy three weeks to become frends. I knew there was somefing wrong wif her, so I took good care of her until it was time for her to go to the Bridge.

It's ELEBENTY yeers since mombean went to this nise shelter plase wif Grandma bean and met lots and lots of furry nise cats. But not one of those cats tolld her that they wanted to go home wif her and be her cat.

But then, the nise lady who runs the shelter took them to the speshal plase ware some cats were getting better after there hooha-ectomies and ladygarden-ectomies and that's ware mom met Finnegan. She was petting him and talking to him thru his cage and Miss Pam, who is a furry smart bean when it comes to cats, tolld mom she cood open the cage....

So mom opened the cage and Finny walked rite up to her, climbed up on her sholder, put his hed down and started purring. Mom knew that ment he had pikked her owt and she had to take him home, so she tolld Grandma and Miss Pam "This is my cat." So Finny camed home wif mom to live a happy life wif her for a reely long time.

Hello, everyone, Mom Nora here borrowing the blog from the kitties to share some news, extend my apologies and offer advice.

In 2006 and 2007, the cats and I encouraged our friends and their beans to support an organization we had found called Cats With No Name. It was located in Pine Grove, PA. We were saving the weight circles from our Purina One to donate to the organization, who would then receive donations of food and/or cash from Purina.

At that time, there were several comments left by people from that area who accused the owner of Cats With No Name of misappropriation, abuse of animals, lying, etc. I did what research I could through Google. I found only accusations, no charges filed or convictions made. I emailed the owner, Virginia Kresge Justiniano, and offered her the opportunity to respond. I posted her response on our blog. I encouraged you to do your own research into any organizations you would choose to support, but I had decided that she seemed ok to me and I continued sending our Purina circles for a while, but stopped after a while, I think we had switched to another food for a while.

Today, while going through old posts and comments, I came across comments left on that post from earlier this summer. I only wish that the commenters had left their notes on one of our current posts so I could have made this post sooner.

Virginia Kresge Justiniano and her fiance Andy J. Oxenrider have been charged and convicted of multiple, multiple counts of animal cruelty and drug possession. There are news stories from 2009 and 2010 with details. You can find them by googling her name. I can't post them here, they're too horrible.

I can't tell you how sick I feel about all of this. My mind is reeling with questions that will never be answered about how this could happen, how she got away with these things for so long, and on and on.

My heart breaks for the kitties and other animals who were victims of her cruelty, as well as for the humans who turned their beloved animals over to her because they couldn't care for them any longer.

Please thoroughly research any organization that you consider donating money or anything else to. Check with the Better Business Bureau, make sure they can offer a copy of an annual report or tax return, have 501(c)3 non-profit organization status and do anything else you can think of to make sure they are sparkly clean and honest. Don't give cash and make sure you get a receipt for any amount you donate.

I am so sorry that I encouraged my friends to support these awful people in any way. I hope you can forgive me. Most of all, I hope the kitties who truly have no names can forgive me.

It makes noise like a woofie, but werser noises than the Magic woofie made. And it duzzint have good manners like Magic did, either. Magic unnerstood that cats are in charge! She stayd away from us and we stayd away from her and efurryfing was just fine.

Tribute to John Paolillo

Project 2996 is all about honoring and celebrating the lives of those innocent people who were murdered on Sept. 11, 2001.

John Paolillo was a Battalion Chief with the NY Fire Dept. - killed in the collapse of the North Tower. But more importantly, John was a loving father, brother, son, uncle and a friend to all.

John lived next door to my sister Marjie in Glen Head, NY. I met John once or twice "over the fence" - saying hi, borrowing sugar, neighborhood get-togethers, that kind of thing. The main thing I remember about him is that he would always be out playing in the yard with his kids Jake and Ella anytime I visited. John was very devoted to his kids, his wife, his mom Elizabeth, brother Joe, sister Sheila and their families.

John was a great athlete who loved to run, bicycle and swim - he competed in triathlons on a regular basis and enjoyed sharing his training philosophy with others. He helped Marjie with her cycling when she was getting ready for the MS 150 Bike Tour and an amateur team triathlon that she took part in. Marjie said John didn't understand the kind of mental blocks that held her back from getting up a hill - he just charged on up, knowing he could do it! The first time Marjie went riding after John's death, she took on the toughest hill in town - and made it up for the first time ever -- because she knew that John was there with her, helping her up the hill with a strong hand on her back.

A few months after John's death, his brother Joe, Joe's wife Josephine, friends Gina and Bob, as well as Marjie and her husband Chip, came together with the idea to hold an event that would not only raise money for a scholarship fund at the local high school, but more importantly, honor John's love of life and athleticism.

The John Paolillo Scholarship Fund Memorial 5K race/fundraiser was held at the Glenwood Landing Fire Station. Hundreds of local friends and families, as well as firefighters from John's old stations in Manhattan and Brooklyn, ran or walked the route that included one tough hill, some beautiful scenery, the high school cheerleaders and athletic teams, water stops, and lots of fun.

The commemorative T-shirt from the event demands to know "Did you give it your all?", a question that echoes with John's friends and family. When I attended the 5K in 2003, Joe told the story of going running with John one time and feeling that he could have done better. "Did you give it your all? Did you try so hard you threw up after?" asked John. "Well, yeah," answered Joe. "That's all you can ask of yourself," said John.

More than anything, the Run for Heroes is a celebration that brings together a community and helps to remember a wonderful man who was always ready to help others before himself. John Paolillo was an honorable man who will never be forgotten, nor should the rest of the victims of that terrible day.

Call your family, your friends - all the people that you hold dear - and tell them you love them, spend some time with them and whatever you do, remember to always "Give it your all!"

Today our good woofie, Moji, ran off to the Rainbow Bridge. Even though she was a silly woofie, she was trained by the good Cuzzin Dusty, who taught her all about being respektful to cats.

If any cats were fighting she would woof at them and make them stop. Efurry nite when we got owr stinky goodness, Moji got to play wif the can and lick the gravy out. She reely liked that.

She was a good sport when Finny stoled her bed one time, she din't woof at him or anyfing, she just took her nap in a cat bed.

Efurry nite when mom came home from werk, Moji would danse all around and woof reelly happy. Then mom would give her a treat and give us owr treets too.

Moji efen chased vishus deers away from our howse so they woodn't get any of her cats.

Moji was dopted from the North Shore Animal League (neer where Jeter Harris lives) about 13 yeers ago. She reely loved living on the farm and having lots of grassy plases to run and play.

The house is furry empty now wifowt Moji. We will all miss her.

Pore Ant Ree is furry herted, her collar is broken and one of her ribs too. And she has lots of brooses and scrapes where she slid on the rode.

Rite now Ant Ree is in Dook hospittle, but they hope to bring her home to Grady and Gilmore this afternoon so they can start taking care of her

We wood appresheate lots of purrs and purrayers for the good Ant Ree to help her get better wifowt lots of herty times

Some of you may know that there is an interloper heer at Happy Fields.

Mom and Ant Marjie and Jackie the Horsey Girl call it Ruffian the Barn Kitty.

I don't know what Barn Kitty means. It looks like an INTRUDER to me. I am the alfa cat arownd heer and I am sposed to come first in efurrything.

Well. Last nite, my furry own mombean, that I picked owt at the shelter, that I have owned and trained for TEN YEARS....last nite, MY mom came home from work and IGNORED ME to pay attention to that stoopid intruder.

She SAID she had to go up to the horsey barn and feed the horsies, but I saw her petting and CARRYING that INTRUDER. When she came back to the house, FINALLY, she picked me up and sed she was sorry, blah blah blah... she had to feed the horsies becos Ant Marjie was getting Jackie from collij...blah blah blah.

She has been feeling furry icky from the aunty-biotiks medisins that are sposed to help her feel better. But mom took her to the v.e.t. again and got some diffrunt pill torchers so now she is starting to feel better. But the owie still looks bad.

But, last Satterday, when mom went wif Gramma and Grampa wile they did somefing they call yard saling, she brot us bak this byootiful new bed!!!

Me and Finny knew it was a cat bed rite away, so we jumped up and got comfy efen befor mom finished putting it togevver.

Later, she moved it into the sleepy room, rite neer her big bed so we cood all sleep neer each ofur.

Last nite, me and Jazzy efen shared it! You can see that anofur cat cood efen fit, but Finny purrfurred to share mom's peeple bed.

Efurry cat shood haf a byootiful bed like this! So tell yore beans to go to the Yard Sale and get one. It only cost 10 green papers!

Oh no. Mom opened her emale this morning and went all squeeeee and yippee yippee yay. We came running 'cos we thot we won a truklode of stinky goodness or nip or treets or somefing good like that.

But no, she was all eksited becos the Irish Batchlers are coming bak to owr town to play there myoosiks. This batchler plays the orful fing that sownds like 100 poodins getting there tales pulled.

And then these Batchlers pound on boxes and fings to make MORE noises to scare poodins!

And lookit all the beans that watch them do it and don't make them stop!

One time, Mom Robyn from the Hot(M)BC came to vizzit us in Durm, and owr mom maked her go see them too. Pore Mom Robyn. Ant Ree bean likes them Batchlers too, she's the one who maked owr mom like them.

I wonder if Mom Robyn will come vizzit us efur agane. We'd like to show her the farm and those horseys. And we reely fink she should bring the Hotties wif her!!

Some foolish beans wanted today to be a day wifowt cats! Have you efur herd anyfing so stoopid? Mom sez "efurry life should have nine cats" - let's help her figure out how many she has had in her life so far.....

Offy... was the first cat mom efur knew. We know he was a reely good purrer becos his name was short for Offenhauser - a racecar engine!!

Then there was Charlie. Here's Mom wif Charlie wen she was a little bean.

Wooooo hooooooooooooooooo!!!! We are all furry, furry happy becos Jackie Bean the Horsie Girl is comin' home tomorrow!

Jackie Bean had a naksident wif a horsie named Chip five weeks ago. Chip stumbled and fell over and then bonked Jackie in her hed wif his grate big hoof! Well, it was her helmet, but it herted her furry bad. She wented to sleep and din't wake up for 8 hole days. That's some serryus napping.

In the meantime, alla us poodins and Magic woofie and the horses Max and Jack did owr bestest to keep mom and Ant Marjie bean (Jackie's mamabean) and all the ofur beans calmed down wile they worryd abowt Jackie.

Jackie has been in three diffrent bean hospitals - Dook, Wake Med and Durham Regional. All the vetty beans and nurses and furapists took reely good care of her and she got better reely fast. She was a furry good payshent! So now she gets to come home to Happy Fields!! She will still haf to go to lots of furapy stuffs, but mostly alla us at the farm get to take care of her, speshly her good mom bean and her big sister Lisa the Surfer Girl, who came to visit today.

We can't wate to see owr Horsie Girl home ware she belongs!!!

The Jackie bean is AWAKE!!!!

She is fighting the restraints and tubes and fings, but she is not in a coma anymore. She still has lots of healing to do and will be in the hospital for a while. But she made a big step yesterday!!!

We know the purrs are helping becos Jackie is getting a tiny bit better. She is not getting as menny medisins as before. Today she is getting some speshul Em Arr Eye tests to make sure her hed and nek and spine are ok.

Our good Cuzzin Jackie Bean the Horsey Girl had a terribul fall from a horsey last Thursday nite. She is in intensive care at Dook Medical Center here in Norf CArolina. Her head got bonked arownd and she is in a coma from medisins so she doesn't hurt herself anymore.

All of the Carolina Cats and Magic the Woofie and the horses Max and Jack are purring and grring and whinnying for Jackie Bean to get better and wake up soon so she can come home.

Please aks yore beans and all yore animal furends to join us becos we need lots of help to get Jackie all better.

If anycat's bean likes cow stuff, we will give you all these cows! Or even just some of them if you want them. Mom's not so much into them anymore and she doesn't reely have room for them.

The biggest cow is a door stop, pretty heavy. A little bigger than one cat.

The milk cans are salt & pepper shakers.

The cow with the wagon is missing its axle, but mom found it and will fiks it.

The basket fing that says "Hatch yore own cow" is shaped like a barn and comes wif 5 reely reel cow eggs! (Mom painted them a long time ago wen she lived in Mishigan.)

The little standing cow is somefing you cood hang on yor Chris Mess tree or a cabinet knob, same wif the two feed bags.

The little stool has udders on it but we nefur seen any milk come owt of it or we wood keep it.

The cow all the way on the left side can hang ofur the edge of a shelf.

If you want the cows, just let us know. We will ship them but we aks you to make a donashun to eifur the Cat Blogosphere or one of the cats that needs help rite now.

Cuzzin Dusty made an Excape!!

I was gonna tell abowt my advencher of moving to the farm, but I'll tell it tomorro or the nekst day.

So yesterday morning, Ant Marjie was talking on the fone thingy and Magic-woofie was going bazerko woofing and whining at somefing owtside. Ant Marjie tolld Magic to hush hush hush...but then she wented ofur to the screen pawtch and there was Cuzzin Dusty - OWTSIDE!!

Cuzzin Dusty is 18 yeers old and he is deff and his kid knees don't werk so good and his bones ake from arthur itis! Ant Marjie was furry upset and worryd that a vishus deer or somefing werser cood haf gotten him, so she runned owt there and pikked him up and hugged and hugged him and brot him inside.

Then her and mom went running all ofur the howse looking for me and Cuzzin Cavalli. It was so funny! I was under Ant Marjie's bed just laffing and laffing but Ant Marjie fownd me pritty fast. And Cavalli was on the nise window seet watching owt the window, so she saw him fast too. Nekst time we'll haf to hide better.

I betcha you're wondering how Dusty got owtside, arnt'cha? Ant Marjie opened one of the windows and din't reelize there was no screen on the bottom part. Well, Dusty just went up there and jumped down to the grass. And it was probly 20 Gizzies high!! Mom and Ant Marjie sed he was struttin' arownd the rest of the day like he was a big advenchurer. Well he is!

Hi Efurryone (speshly Kintaro!) I think I've desided that maybe Finny is a pretty good brofur.

I nefur had a brofur befor, so I din't know how to act with him and Buddy. I hissed at them a lot and tryd to chase them! Mama sed that wasn't a good idea.

Sinse mama has been staying at the farm to take care of Cuzzins Dusty and Cavalli & Magic woofie, me and Finny and Buddy have been on owr own a lot more. So we haf spent lots of time talking and getting to kno each ofur better.

Finny is reely nise! He's a good snuggler and a good player, efen if he is allmost a geezer cat. Buddy duzzn't reely want to play wif me yet, but he will soon, I just kno it. And then we will all be furrends!!

We're moving to a horsie farm!!!

Mom bean & Ant Ree bean's other sister, Ant Marjie bean, botted a horsie farm rite heer in Norf Carolina and aksed mom and us if we wanna go live wif her there!

Ant Marjie alreddy brot owr kitty cuzzins Dusty and Cavalli and there woofie Magic to the farm. But then she had to go back to New Yawk for a couple of weeks until owr cuzzin Jackie Bean graduates from high school. So mom is staying there to take care of the kitties and the woofie.

She comes home to owr house efurry morning and nite to feed us and give us some snuggles, but then she goes back.

In a few days we will get to go to the farm too! And then Buddy will get to be a real farmer and grow his own crops. And we will all get to meet a horsie!!

Grampa sent me an email and said to say

Thank You to all the kitties for the Get Well Purrs

He's feeling better and he got a "Clean Bill of Health" at the people v.e.t. All the beans are really happy that Grampa is better and won't have to have any nasty medisins to make him feel sicker.

It's gonna be furry warm this weekend, so mom said her and Ant Ree and Grampa and some of their bicycler frends will be going riding on Sunday.

Mom sed we can all take turns going owt in the stroller and enjoying the nise fresh air!! We got to clean up the stroller, get it checked owt by owr mechanic and ready to roll!

It is one whole yeer today since mama came to the yucky shelter ware I was living in a cage and took me home. This is the pikcher they had on Petfinder to try to get me 'dopted. See how messy my furrs were? That's 'cos they nefur brushed me and I was too sad to take good care of myself like a lady cat should.

Mama brushes me all the time and now my furrs are shiny and silky. I'm a happy girl!

Mama asked me waht I wanted for a Gotcha Day purresent, but I alreddy have lots of toys to play with anytime and lots of nice beddies all around the house so I can catnap anyware I want.

My furrends made lots of good suggestions and heer's what I desided to ask for:

A new jobbie for Miles, Sammy & Billy Sweet Feets' dadbean
Jobbies for all the other kitties' beans that need one
Homes for all the kitties & woofies that live in shelters
Warm plases to sleep for kitties that want to live outside

For Moki to get better reely soon!

Buddy is in IMOM'S Photo Contest!

It's a special contest to raise green papers for IMOM, a furry wonderful groop of volunteer beans who help pay V.E.T. bills wen yore human bean doesn't have enuff green papers.

And, the contest will also give some moneys to another reskew groop that each entry chooses. Sints we can't give the money bak to the IMOM beans, we desided to give it to a reely good shelter in Souf Carolina called Our Lady of Mercy's Catnip Cottage! It's a byootiful home where they take reely good care of kitties until they find a furever home. Lots of the kitties have diabetes, like owr big brofur Jasper, who came before.

It only takes 5 green papers for one vote! You can look at all the other cats and woofies too and efen vote for them if you wants. But pleese vote for somecat or somedog so they get lots of moneys.

Mom's Bike Tour

Mom has been home from the bike tour sints Twosday but she din't show us the pikshers 'til today.

This one is of her speshul socks she wares wen she goes bike riding and the furry speshul ankle braselet she made from the beeds that Mom Robyn sent.

This one shows Grampa riding his bike up a big bridge! Mom sez there is lots of water under the bridge, and that's wy she din't take us wif her, 'cos she knew we woodn't like it. So insted she taked this woofie wif her. Sometimes woofies at howses on the bike ride will bark at the bike riders, so she figgered this guy cood help her if they barked at her or tryd to bite her or Grampa or Ant Ree.

This is mom and Grampa at the finish line on Satterday.

This is GRampa "doin' the Q" at a rest stop on Sunday. It was furry hot and Grampa and all the bike riders were so tired! Mom only biked a little bit on Sunday but Grampa and Ant Ree rode ALL DAY!

Tribute to John Paolillo

The 2,996 project is all about honoring and celebrating the lives of those innocent people who were murdered on Sept. 11, 2001.

John Paolillo was a Battalion Chief with the NY Fire Dept. - killed in the collapse of the North Tower. But more importantly, John was a loving father, brother, son, uncle and a friend to all.

A few months after John's death, his brother Joe, Joe's wife Josephine, friends Gina and Bob, as well as Marjie and her husband Chip, came together with the idea to hold an event that would not only raise money for a scholarship fund at the local high school, but more importantly, honor John's love of life and athleticism.

The commemorative T-shirt from the event demands to know "Did you give it your all?", a question that echoes with John's friends and family. When I attended the 5K in 2003, Joe told the story of going running with John one time and feeling that he could have done better. "Did you give it your all? Did you try so hard you threw up after?" asked John. "Well, yeah," answered Joe. "That's all you can ask of yourself," said John.

More than anything, the Run for Heroes is a celebration that brings together a community and helps to remember a wonderful man who was always ready to help others before himself. John Paolillo was an honorable man who will never be forgotten, nor should the rest of the victims of that terrible day.

Call your family, your friends - all the people that you hold dear - and tell them you love them, spend some time with them and whatever you do, remember to always "Give it your all!"

This is mom's bestest frend Blanche and her hubby Larry. Miss Blanche is owned by a byootiful tortie named Funny Face. Miss Blanche has MS but she says MS doesn't have her!! She rides her bike in the bike tore too!
