Hi efurrycat! Me and Buddy are letting Mom post for today only so she can tell you abowt somefing we are furry upset abowt. --Finny

Hi all our feline friends and beans! Thank you, Finny and Buddy, for letting me share the blog (for today only) so I can tell everyone about what is upsetting us.

You may have heard of "Cats With No Name" and/or read Finny's post from last year.

For the last year or so, we have been saving weight circles from our Purina One food to send to CWNN, so they could turn them in for some type of reward. I don't know if it was discounts, product or cash, but I've emailed Purina to find out more info.

In Finny's post, we encouraged our friends to make donations or save weight circles too, and we believe that some of you were supporting them as we were.

Unfortunately, this week we discovered that CWNN's founder, Virginia Kresge Justiniano, is under investigation for animal-related charges -- possibly hoarding, abuse, etc. It's hard to get much info, but if we do, we'll post it.

The Cats with no Name website is down and there is no response to emails or phone calls.

Making Donations - Do Your Research

I should have done some research on this organization before encouraging others to support it, and I apologize if you did so on our recommendation.

Please, if you are approached to make a donation to any organization or group, especially one you've never heard of, do a Google search on them.

• Find out where the money goes and what it's used for


• Make sure they are a 501(c)(3) IRS non-profit organization


• Ask or look on their website for their annual report


• Be wary of "sound-alike" organizations


• Don't make donations over the phone or internet without doing your research first

Check with your state or city's Better Business Bureau and State Attorney General's office to be sure the organization is not under any type of investigation for fraud or had an unreasonable number of complaints against it.

In short, be completely comfortable that you know who is getting your money and what they're going to do with it. Any reputable non-profit will be happy to assure you of their IRS status and direct you where to find more information on their stewardship of donations.

We'll keep monitoring this situation and hopefully we'll hear that Ms. Justiniano is cleared of any charges and can continue doing good work for the kitties.

Reporting in from Gramma and Grampa's howse!

Grampa tolld me that mom wented to the bean toof vetty and he stoled one of her toofs and it hurted her a lot. Then one of her other toofs started herting and the toof vetty did some terribul fings to it and mom was herting efen more. One nite it was herting her so much that Gramma and Grampa went to Ant Ree's howse to take care of mom but they din't take me wif them! I could've helped my mom feel better by snuggling up wif her and purring purring purrrrrring.

I fink she is finely feeling better tho. Today (Sunday) she came to see me and we had some nise snuggles. Then we wented owtside on the deck and she gave me a nise long brushing wif the Zoom Groomie. That's prolly wat made her toofs feel better!

I am having lots of fun playing efurry nite wif my unkle Iz. We play chasies and Thundering Herd of Ellyphants all arownd the howse. It's a little bit tuff wen you don't haf an upstares, but we manage OK.

And efurry day I go owtside wif Grampa for an impawtant job - getting the male that the man in the bloo shorts puts in the maleboks. I don't haf to go in a stroller or a harness or anyfing! Grampa just puts me up on his sholder and owt we go!!

Wordless Wednesday wif Grady

The Mystery of Mom, Ant Ree and Mom Robyn of the HOT(M)BC

Somefing furry stranj is going on in owr werld and Gree from the House of the (Mostly) Black Cats and I are detecting to try to find owt wat it is. Heer's wat happend...

Satterday in Durham, NC - mom and Ant Ree bean pack up bags, put lots of kibbles in owr boles and drive away. Befor they go, there is lots of Irish myoosik playing from the teevee and the ceedee player. Mom is howling along. They tookd a hole lot of stuff that we used at the St. Patty's/Finny's Birthday Party.

Later that same day in Richmond, VA at the House of the (Mostly) Black Cats, there are lots of phone calls for Mom Robyn and she sownds more and more eksited as the day goes on. Crazy Irish myoosik is playing there too and Mom Robyn is laffing so much that Gramma Cat comes to ask wat is so funny. Mom Robyn tells her it is abowt the "batchler" and some "wellies". Gramma Cat is confyoosed and so are the (Mostly) Black Cats.

Satterday nite in Durham. Grampa comes to feed Buddy, Gilmore and Grady. Then he leaves and doesn't come bak until Sunday morning. Mom and Ant Ree NEVER came home!!!!

Satterday nite in Richmond: feeds the (Mostly) Black Cats and Mom Robyn does not come home to her kitties until after 1 O'clocks in the morning! That is a fine time for cats to be up and abowt, chasing mices, playing Thundering Herd of Ellyfants and such fings, but it is no time for mom beans to be coming home!!

Sunday morning in Richmond, Gramma Cat feeds brekfast and in Durham, Grampa does the same. Mom Robyn sleeps and sleeps. No sine of Mom and Ant Ree. Mom Robyn's fone thingy rings and rings and finely wakes her up. Gree overheers things like, "yes my legs are aching" and "it was lots of fun" and "OK, you'll meet Sanjee and the others next time"!!

Sunday afternoon Mom and Ant Ree FINELY come home and they are moving furry slowly, talking abowt achy legs and arms and how much FUN they had. How cood they haf fun wifowt us??

Monday morning After Ant Ree and mom leave for werks, we get the camra and find these pikshers.

Wat is this bean giving to Ant Ree or mom? And why is he wearing one of owr St. Patty's day hats?

We don't kno who this is, but if you look reely close, you can see some cat furrs on his shert! We fink this is a good bean who serves cats.

Miles Meezer sez he knows somefing abowt all this but he's not telling.

Miles, haf you been threttend or harmed in some way to keep you from telling us wat owr moms and Ant Ree were up to? Is this wy you had to go to the vet??

Strollin'

Heer's pix of Grady going on the furry first stroller ride! It was at nite and he liked it purrty well, eksept wen some car monsters came by him and shined there brite lites in his fase.

After wen he gotted home, mom aksed me if I wanted to go strollering. She picked me up and putted me in the stroller but I wasn't reddy yet so I jumped owt rite away!

Besides, I won't be able to eet grass from the stroller!!!

Daisy

This is owr little sisfur, Daisy. Mom wented into Petsmart on June 2, 2001 and went to look at all the kitties who needed new furever homes and she met a pritty little girly cat named Tiger Lily.

Mom had been thinking of getting a brofur or sisfur for me for a wile and she just fell in love wif little Tiger Lily. So they dopted eech ofur and she came home.

We kind of hissd at each ofur at furst, but it only took three weeks for me to lern to love my little sisfur just like mom did.

We thot of diffrunt names for her, but mom reely liked how she had two little wite blazes on her nose that lookd like flower petals, so we named her Daisy!

Daisy liked boxes and playing wif toys, but most of all, she loved to sit on mom's shoulder and purr and snuggle.

Daisy got furry sik just 9 months after she came to live wif us and even though mom and the vetty beans did lots of tests and medsins, Daisy coodn't get well and she had to go to Rainbow Bridge.

Although Daisy has been gone for more than 5 years, mom still thinks of her lots and misses her.

Please efurrycat, give yore beans an ekstra little snuggle today in honor of my little sisfur, Daisy.

Serious Post abowt Cat Hotels

Efurrycat has prolly seen Skeezix's reports on the nise hotel he and Mao stayd in last weeksend wile the Food Lady and Mr Tasty Fase were on vacashun.

We were reeding the new blog that Skeezix tolld abowt, starring, Minx, Muffin and Ebbie . There mom bean was looking for a nise hotel in there town but she coodn't find one! So she rote a furry good post abowt her advenchers in chekking owt diffrunt hotels and wich one she finely deesided wood be good enuff for Minx, Muffin and Ebbie.

Efurry bean shood read this post and make sure that if you absolootly haf to leave yore poodins wif strangers at a hotel or cattery, they follo these tips and find a furry good one.

We wood also like to menshun that if you or one of yore fur siblings needs speshul attenshun like medisin or speshul foods, yore mom or dad shood make sure that the staff at the hotel or at yore vetty bean's office knows eksakly wat they are doing! Chek owt this site abowt a furry speshul diabetic poodin (sugarcat) named Toonces who was given 10 times too much insulin by a bean who was not a vetty or even a vetty tech. As a result of this horribul overdose, Toonces was severely brane-damaged and his life was shortened drastickly. Don't let somefing like this happen to you or somecat you love!!

Heer is the furry nise hotel that owr brofur who came befor, Jasper, used to stay at and I (Finny) stayed at a few times too. Pet's Companion Inn is in Bahama, NC and the beans there are furry nise. They have nise big plases for droolers downstares and nise big plases for poodins upstares. Jasper used to like to sit in the window and watch the droolers wen they were playing owtside!

Be sure to talk to yore beans and make sure they kno that of corse, they shood nefur leave you or go anyware wifowt you, but if they do, to make sure they do lots of reserch and find the bestest plase they can to take care of you.

Putting it all Together

Hi efurrycat! It's me, Buddy, repurrting, but Gramma is finely reeding the blog (Hi Gramma!!) and she sed the orinch letters made her eyes hurty, so I'm not going to do that ennymor.

It took a cupple of days to get this post together 'cos we had problems getting the camra to lode the pix but I helpd mom and we finely got it rite, so heer we go!


Wen mom got home, we took the box owt to the sunroom (but it was dark so is it still a sun room?) and started bilding the surprize.


Efen befor it was all finishd, Grady and Gilmore were inspekting it to make sure there mom was bilding it rite.


Gilmore sed it was fine but he din't like the looks of it cos he sed it lookd like a PTU (Prizner Transport Unit) and he din't want to go to the vetty bean no way no how.



Grady was furry brave and curryus, so he sniffd it reel good and then climed in!

He din't think it was so bad, but then Ant Ree closed the top part and he was trapped!!
